ARTS FOR SOCIAL CHANGE
Teaching Artistry and Communities
Bridging the gap between community members, artists, and educators, teaching artists can impact social change. The tools of teaching artistry enable individuals and communities to expand their sense of self, encourage autonomy, and instill agency which can then be transferred into all parts of their lived experience.
Whether it is helping refugee communities evolve into artist communities, designing murals which tell the story of those who have passed and the hopes of the future, teaching artists are able to guide, educate, illuminate, and expand people’s capacity to find solutions and enact change.
To tackle the challenges of the 21st century we need creative, brilliant minds to collaborate, communicate, and problem solve. Creativity can be taught without the use of crayons or instruments. Through guided steps, individual’s who previously believed they were not the creative type find themselves opening their mind to new ways and ideas. The experience can enable them to take more risks, experiment with potential solutions, improve productivity and open themselves to communicating and collaborating with others.

TRAUMA-INFORMED LEADERSHIP
Professional Development for Leaders
The 21st century has presented considerable challenges and required flexibility and adaptation in order for individuals to thrive. Events such as the COVID-19 pandemic, political and social instability intermixed with systemic inequity has touched everyone in some way, leaving an indelible mark. Leaders are required to consider how the mental health and well-being of their followers as a primary concern when evaluating the needs and effectiveness of its members and organization. Trauma-informed leadership acknowledges that people bring to work and the classroom their lived experiences which impacts their productivity and readiness to work. Trauma informed leadership professional development sessions are designed to provide leaders with tools and strategies to mitigate the impact of trauma while nurturing and supporting the growth, productivity, and sustainability of an organization.

TRAUMA-INFORMED PEDAGOGY
Professional Development for Teachers
Trauma-Informed Pedagogy empowers teachers to be more effective in the classroom by understanding the impact trauma has on students and learning. Recognizing and acknowledging the lived experiences which influence student responses and relationships, trauma-informed pedagogy focuses on the social emotional health and well-being through curriculum design and classroom management which avoids triggering or causing trauma while also utilizing protective factors to avoid vicarious trauma.
